Customer Quality Engineer

Job description 

As a Customer Quality Engineer at SMART Photonics your role is to take responsibility for maintaining and enhancing SMART Photonics’ name-recognition as well as quality reputation from a customer’s viewpoint.

You will be in close collaboration with our Commercial and R&D team, to ensure that all customer quality requirements are understood, acknowledged, and agreed upon, both from the company’s as well as the customer side.

Role and responsibilities

• First line of defence in case of customer issues – make sure that the issues are understood, communicated from both sides, and that a solution process has started;
• Arranging, leading, and managing the 8D problem solving process (or similar method – DMAIC or DIDOV as needed) in the form of a well-structured project;
• Report curated findings to the customer, and detailed findings to SMART management, as well as periodically communicating the Lessons Learned to the entire company;
• Participate in all customer-related meetings including on-site meetings;
• Participate in product quality planning and control process based on customer’s specifications and requirements;
• Prepare and update all necessary quality reports as required by customers;
• Prepare and maintain product quality documentation based on ISO specifications.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate has/is:

• A Master degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or relevant fields;
• +10 years’ experience within a complex semiconductor, automotive, or aerospace production environment, as (quality) engineer;
• Preferably, experience in a foundry and/or in Photonics;
• Experience in customer interactions and how to nurture them;
• Green / Black belt and DfSS;
• A quality and continuous improvement mindset;
• Able and willing to travel to customers if needed;
• Very good listening skills, and is able to connect with people on multiple levels.
